Delete your data from Hia

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Choose the situation that fits you. You do not need a Hia account for options 3 and 4.

1. You are a practitioner with a Hia account

  1. Disconnect an account (immediate). In Hia open Integrations, find the account (for Meta: Integrations, Meta, then the Instagram, Facebook, Threads or Meta Ads row) and choose Disconnect. Hia stops using it, asks the provider to revoke access where the provider supports that, and deletes the stored access tokens and webhook subscriptions immediately. Records already in your practice (messages, comments, leads, appointments, invoices) stay in your practice.
  2. Delete your practice and everything in it. There is no delete button in the app yet. Email hey@gethia.com from your account email with your practice name. We confirm by replying to that address and delete the practice, its clients' records, messages, session recordings, transcripts, notes, files and stored credentials within 30 days. Copies in encrypted backups roll off about 14 days after that.

We cannot verify requests from addresses that do not match an account, and we will not delete a practice at the request of someone who is not its owner.

2. You removed Hia in Meta's settings (automatic)

If you remove Hia from your Facebook or Instagram settings (Settings, Apps and Websites) or your Threads settings, Meta tells Hia and the following happens without any action from you:

  • Every Hia connection tied to your Meta account is disconnected and its access tokens are deleted immediately.
  • Posts that were scheduled through that connection are cancelled.
  • The text of Meta direct messages received through the connection is redacted, and comments and Lead Ads form answers received through it are deleted.
  • Contacts that exist only because of a Meta enquiry (people who were never made a client) are anonymised.
  • Meta shows you a confirmation code. Check it any time at /data-deletion/status. The page shows only the code, a status and a date.

3. You messaged or enquired with a practice (no Hia account)

If you sent a message, comment or Lead Ads form to a practice that uses Hia, that practice decides what it keeps about you and is responsible for your data; Hia stores it for them. Ask the practice to delete it, or email hey@gethia.com with the Instagram or Facebook name or handle you used and the practice you contacted. We will pass your request to the practice and act on it as the law requires. We may need to confirm it is really you before anything is deleted.

4. What is deleted and what is kept

Deleted: Meta access tokens and webhook subscriptions; scheduled Meta posts; Meta direct message text, comments and Lead Ads answers (as in option 2); processed Meta webhook notifications, which are removed from our processing queue after 30 days.

Kept, where it belongs to the practice or the law requires it: records the practitioner created in Hia itself, such as appointments, invoices, payments, sessions and clinical records (a practice may be legally required to keep these), and a minimal audit log that does not include message content. Invoices and payment records are kept for tax purposes.

5. Connections Hia no longer supports

Hia no longer offers connections to WhatsApp, Gmail inboxes, Reddit, Stripe or ChatGPT Ads, and does not use any such connection made earlier. If you connected one and want its stored access credentials deleted, email hey@gethia.com from your account email and we will delete them.

More detail is in our Privacy Policy. Questions: hey@gethia.com.
